Q:Hi,
I am trying to complete the purchase of a house on friday with exchange tomorrow. The only thing holding it up is the offer of the mortgage which is currently with the underwriters. I have chased my broker and the building society branch and they keep saying it will be out today (that was yesterday), apparently it is in the underwriters urgent pile, what should I do as time is ticking away quickly!?
Q:My house is for sale and it is freehold, with chief rent of £5.00 per annum. The house across the road (same type, style, etc) is also for sale (similar price to mine) but their house is leasehold, with ground rent of £10.00 per annum.
Are there any advantages to being freehold as against leasehold (from a selling point of view) that I could use to push my house sale?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Q:It all seems a bit vague to me? Anyone tell me? I did ask a solicitor this the other day, she muttered a bit about photocopying, but im none the wiser
Anyone know ?
Cheers

Q:Hi
We put an offer on the flat we hope to buy at the end of May, and it seems the process hasn't went much further since then.

It took us weeks to actually ge

Q:Right I sign contacts and pay my deposit today to my solicitor at 4pm. The solicitor has said I can pay by cheque.
My Estate agent has just called and said that if I pay by CHAPS payment (instant payment costing me £30) I should be able to exchange today.
Does this sound reasonable?

thanks all.
Q:There is a lot of debate over the future of house prices on here. However from what I see:
people who think they will go down are waiting for a chance to buy;
the people who think it will go up have bought and have a mortgage.
So can we have a poll on this. What is your opinion and what is your position?

Q:I applied for a mortgage when I first started looking into buying my first home.
My broker found me a deal with Northern Rock and I was happy to proceed. It wasnt until they were ready to do the valuation on the house and final credit checks that they decided I was too high a risk to give a mortgage to.
By this point I had paid the mortgage application fee.
Anyway, when I was declined the mortgage, my broker advised me to cancel the application fee cheque or el
