Q:Hello!
I was wanting some advice if possible. I have seen a semi-detached cottage that I like in a nice little village where I live. It has extensive garden both back and at the side. It does need a considerable amount of work doing to it, such as an extension to change it from a one bedroom to a 2/3 bedroom, a bathroom fitted (as there is only a toilet outside at the moment), new kitchen, new floor joists, plastering, new floors etc…
It is up for sale by informal tend
Q:Hi All
I have two tickets for the Good Food Show at NEC Birmingham (Saturday 25th November) going free if anybody wants them:

The theatre session I have booked with them is for Jamie Oliver.
I can no longer go as I am completing on my house next week, which works out to be the day before we go away for a short break to Portugal, basically we would get back in time to go, but we won't have had chance to sort
Q:We were buying a property with an additional piece of land across the road but then found out that the vendors did not actually own this land. We managed to find the legitimate owner and asked him if he would be willing to sell the land to us but he said no. (He was actually very fed up with the situation as he had had to engage his own solicitor to ensure that someone else did not sell his land!) We have pulled out of the purchase because without this land the property has restricted parki

Q:Hi, I am new to this site today and have just been reading your questions on damp proofng.
I work as a secretary in a damp proofing company and can give you some advice when instructing a survey.
Never get a free survey. There is damp in almost all houses, it is whether the dampness is causing a problem or not that should be addressed therefore no damp surveys are free, they are out looking for work.
Reputable damp specialists charge from about £50.00 for t
Q:I am a FTB and have just exchanged contracts. This seems like a silly question but what do I need to do in terms of gas, elec and water when I move in?
Q:We have found a house that we would like to make an offer on. However, it has an extension built on common land by the previous owners in the 1980's without planning permission. The house has ownership of this common land (I have checked the land registry details) but what are the implications of there being no planning permission? The current owner bought the property without a mortgage but we would need one.
Should we proceed any further? We are very wary of things going
Q:Hello everybody for the first time!
I wondered if somebody could clarify something for me please?
I am in the process of selling my leasehold flat (share of freehold) and was wondering about the situation with the service charge payments upon completion….charges for the year run according to the financial year and I hope (!) to be completing before this ends. I currently pay the service charge on a monthly basis throughout the year (i.e. invoice in March for April 06 – March
Q:Please help me.
When exchanging contracts on selling a house, do you have to sign the original contract or can your solicitor fax a copy for you to sign.
Q:I'm just wondering who everyone is going to for their Buildings and Contents Insurance.
Being FTB we have no NCD even on contents insurance although we've lived in rented for over 5 years! (naughty I know :naughty: )
I've looked at a few companies and at the moment it seems to be between Barclays and Direct Line for us. Anyone else got any other suggestions?
