Q:I just rang up virgin to say we were moving on saturday so could they disconnect us and reconnect to the new house. Everything was surprising simple (I should have been worried!) I got a reconnection slot on Monday morning, great. Went to ring DH up who is ill at home and guess what the phone doesn't work!
After 1.5 hours back on the phone to virgin (I have a very tolerant and understanding boss) and being passed from dept to dept being told firstly it's a coincindental

Q:On our home buyers survey it has been recommended that we have a drain survey done. I am looking for a plumber, what qualifications should I ensure the plumber has and do they issue certificates for a survey?
Q:I am currently progressing a Transfer of Equity and buying my brother's share of our house. It's an amicable arrangement, sum agreed etc but given that it's straight forward we were looking to use a cheapish or fee fixed internet conveyancing solicitor, rather than some of the more expensive local branches.
The one that seems to be regularly found during searches is the easylawyers.co.uk site which states a fixed fee and that they use Dickinson Dees based in Newcastle (
Q:I have found a property to purchase and will be a cash buyer – I proceeded with the sale of my house despite my previous proposed purchase falling through! I have a monthly rental agreement and am really anxious to move asap. The seller of the property is moving into rented accommodation and is also anxious to move out as soon as possible. Theoretically what is the shortest time in which all the conveyancing could be completed to arrive at completion? My solicitor advised 6/8 weeks but
Q:I am a single person and live in a 3 bedroom semi. I want to move to a smaller cheaper property but in doing this am i in effect taking some money out of what is up to now a very sound investment?
I dont really need the money I just think its a waste living in such a big house for just me!! What should I do? Would moving to a smaller similar priced property in a better area a smart move to keep my money invested?
Q:I recently completed on the sale of my property. On the day of completion three letters arrived from my bank advising I was overdrawn and had been charged £35 x 3. I rushed to the bank and was advised once a solicitor requests a completion statement a cap is put on any overdraft facilities. The first completion statement was requested some three weeks prior to completion date. (The bank advised that I should have been consulted as to whether I agreed to the capping, to allow me time to
Q:I have been trying to rid myself of debt that i have accumulated over the years, the majority of which is a hang over from my times at university, and i seem to be struggling.
I should be debt free in 2-3 years at the current rate.
However, i am nearing my 28th birthday and would love to be able to move into my own home, but as we know the housing market is a very tough one at the moment.
I am currently paying out around 700 to 800 a month on my debt, which mea
Q:i have posted this on the Conveyancing warehouse thread (as they are doing our purchase) but thought i'd add it here to. so apologies for repeating myself, but need some advice.
Thought everything was going fine until today!
We are near completion. just been told TODAY that the house does not have building regulations (the vendor is paying the indemnity insurance though).
Now i dont know what the impact of this is but im sure i'll find out. Th extension is 1
Q:Hi – I have had 4 agents come to value my house and this is what they said:
A : Valued at 155 but to market it at 149,995. Quite negative about a few aspects and made me feel like the house was not quite good enough but he would do me a favour by selling it on the cheap. 1.5% charge.
B : Valued at 150 but to market at OIEO 140,000. Again made a few negative comments. 2% charge.
C : Valued at 175,000 – pointed out some very good points about the house and a
