Q: Hi
We accepted an offer on our house last Tuesday (we had accepted their offer a few weeks ago, but they lost their buyer – now have a new). The last time was 2 weeks from offer to find their buyer had lost and we had not been contacted for a survey.
I know it is not even one weeks but wondered what the average wait for a survey to perform?
Thanks
A:I have been told everywhere is bogged under and its 3 or 4 wks wait (in my area). If a vendor told me they wouldnt remove the property till the survey is done I think I might be inclined to just leave it…. afterall its not me who is delaying it!
A:ftb's have bought ours put an offer in at the beginning of march, every week i keep being told by EA that they the survey will be done shortly but still no news,
we havent found a house yet so maybe there waiting first but it feels like there not serious about moving… will ask our ea on monday to put the house back on the market for the time being until they have had a survey done.
A:Survey booked in for Monday so almost 2 weeks from offer to survey.
God I hate all this stress!
A:same here. we placed an offer on a property right after Easter but the HB report isn't happening until the end of this week. It was out of our hands as the lenders have paid for both the valuation and the report so a wait as far as I can gather is quite normal.
A:We had an offer accepted 14th Feb but the survey wasnt done untill 30th of March because the mortgage people wanted to get all the checks done first then do the survey.
A:Hiya,
I accepted offer about three weeks ago, the survey is being done on thursday,
hope this helps
A:We've had two surveys. The first was done about a week after offer acceptance, which I think is fairly normal, as the buyers will want to know asap about any major problems. The other one (the first sale fell through) wasn't done until right near the end, but this was a ftb buying through sahred ownership so I'm not sure who actually organised the survey – the housing association or the buyers.
A:From the buying point of view we had our offer accepted last Thursday and things do seem to move slowly. When we completed the mortgage application (was originally an AIP) we were told that the mortgage provider was rushed off their feet with applications at the moment, and have been booked in today to complete the details, due to people trying to get a mortgage before they withdraw the current offers. So it may just be they are having to wait to complete the details.
Hope that helps
A:Just had the same thing! Offer last Monday nothing up to now. I insisted the property remaimed on the market until the Survey and Valuation has been carried out. This makes sure the buyers are serious!!

Hi. We accepted an offer on our property 3 weeks ago yesterday (20.11.10). I buyers have not had their survey done on our property yet. We have heard that their lender is ‘backed-up’ with surveys, also that the lender is ‘crossing all the T’s, and dotting all the I’s’ etc etc first. We are getting worried as we know the survey is the main thing and once that is OK the rest follows. Especially as we have got a house that was built in 1896. Please can someone tell us what the current waiting time a the survey is. Is 3 weeks and counting OK?
