Q:On our home buyers survey it has been recommended that we have a drain survey done. I am looking for a plumber, what qualifications should I ensure the plumber has and do they issue certificates for a survey?
A:may i suggest you find a smaller local firm in your local business pages, they are often a lot cheaper than the bigger national boys. i pay £115 (incl VAT) for a video survey.
A:I have just dug out the paperwork and the CCTV survey of all our drains cost £146.87 including VAT. We also needed 1 meter of 150mm drain liner fitting as we had minor root intrusion and that cost £450 to fix.
A:Anyone know how long they are supposed to take? On average?
A:Yes, you need a drain specialist, not a plumber.
It's not that bad compared to other reports you might have needed! It's been a while since I've had one but I'm sure it's around £100.
A:I may be wrong but I don't think many plumbers have the equipment to do a drain survey. They are usually done by drain specialists like Dynorod. We had to get a drain survey done on our house to check for root intrusion, cracking etc and this was who did it.
There are lots of companies who specialise in this type of thing like drain doctor, dyno rod, sub-scan, master blaster etc and most of these will give you a written guarantee and a video of your drains so you can see what they did but it is quite pricey.
Ok, how much pricey?!?!?
