Lease renewal problems [freeholder] [solicitors]

Q: Hi

We are in the process of extending our lease. The price was agreed and we expected the paperwork for the new. However, the owner? S lawyers have repeatedly delayed on this, and we now have to apply to court to force an answer. At the moment we have not “served” the notice on them, hoping that soon they would along.

Our costs have increased significantly as a result of this, and we have asked to be reimbursed for this extra work caused by the own inherited delay.

Our lawyer was confident of getting their agreement to meet the cost as it is clearly the delay, but when they will not agree. The next step is to submit the message and let the court decide.

Does everyone on this forum have some experience of this, and how the court considers such a request? My main concern is that our costs will rise even more, with no guarantee they met.

The owner and his lawyer have admitted to me that they do this deliberately because they do not get the price for the lease originally asked for, but I doubt it will be held. I get the impression from our lawyer has not done that relates to me even more, and has prompted question.

Many thanks for reading!

A:About 7k for the extension at 66/67 years. Originally valued at 5k but went up with the Sportelli case decision and pain in the a**e greedy , to extend for 90 years

So you currently have 66years? And originally it was 5k to extend to 90 years? So what's this Sportelli case? Lease's are a pain in the bum I think. I'm going to have to negotiate with a seller to also extend – but I think they are a bit blind/stubborn to help….and worse still they're family

Thanks for the reply.

A:apologies I have no advice to give, though may I ask how much it cost to extend the lease (well how much it initially worked out to be), and the length of the extension in time?

best of luck!
