Q:Hello everyone, this is my first post so here goes.
I was wondering if anyone knows about renting your house out for a month in the holidays. It would make a lot of sense to me as we would both be off work for a month and have a caravan so we could go on holiday cheaply enough for long enough. Our house, our main asset is atnding empty whilst we pay the mortgage, it's a four bedroom house with a large garden.
I know there would be a contract to draw up and bonds would need paying etc, but is it possible to do it?
I'm thinking there may be a market for business people, possibly from overseas, working over here for a month and looking for somewhere other than a hotel, possibly with a family.
I would greatly appreciate any views or advice. Thanks
But being Yorkshire you must have some stunning stuff not that far away and I would imagine that more people are looking to stay in the UK this year because of the crunch and Euro factor.
I would certainly want a very trusty neighbour at hand to help out and be available to keep a check, as the thought of having strangers going through my drawers would make me feel a bit uncomfortable :embarasse as it is not like a normal holiday let where there is no personal stuff around. But I can see it makes sense to try and make something out of the place being empty, so good luck with it.
Mine are usually 6 month lets although I have done a 'one weeker'. It works out great as my tenants are only there 3 or 4 nights a week as they return to their own home at weekends and my place tends to stay pristine as they are not making it their home as private tenants would.
The money on corporate lets also tends to be higher than private lets. Not sure which part of the country you are in – would suggest you google corporate/business lettings.
Good luck
