Q:Hi everyone.

I've just left uni and i've decided to stay in the city i studied in and i'm trying to get a flat.
I've seen a really nice one, its only a small , but i have no idea how much it will cost to run it. Does anyone know of anywhere i can find a ball-park figure of basic water, gas and electric costs for a with only me living there?

Many thanks!
Sara

A:Studio flat, basic bills, say £200 for:
Electricity, gas, water, TV licence, contents insurance, council tax, telephone line, broadband.

Although you don't tend to have gas in studio flats. They tend to be storage heaters, which nobody uses, so you tend to make do with an electric fan heater.

£50 – Electricity
£20 – Water (might be £40 if not on a meter)
£12 – TV licence (£24/month at first as they like you to get ahead)
£12 – Contents insurance (guessing, can't remember what mine was)
£50 – Council tax (could be higher, check on the internet by putting the postcode in)
£15 – Landline
£15 – Broadband
===
£174-£220

So, to be safe and sure, budget for £250-300 and just let any excess stay in that savings account.

A:Varies from place to place. Allow £300 per month including recently raised council tax and recently raised gas and electric.
