to buy for the mother ? [buying a property] [tax implications]

Q:Please could someone advise me on buying a property then renting it to my mother. At the moment she is privately renting and the rent is expensive, so as me and my husband have just cleared our mortgage we thought we could buy another property then rent it to my mother so she covers part of the mortgage cost only. What are the tax implications in doing this as we would not be making a monthly profit. The property in mind is 85,000 and we will be putting down a 5,000 deposit and will also be pa

  • About to buy with partner – tenants in common? [safe guard] [buying a property]

    Q:Hello,

I'm hoping somebody can offer me some advise.

I am in the process of buying a property with my partner. He is taking out a mortgage for 50% of the property and I am going to pay 50% in cash.

What I'm trying to understand is if there is anyway to safe guard my 'cash' should we split up at anytime whilst he still has a mortgage or if be default we both end up being liable for the mortgage.

I've been reading up and think &

  • Fixtures u0026 Fittings [avoiding stamp duty] [buying a property]

Q:We're in the process of buying a property and the agreed price is a bit below the stamp duty threshold. If we offer to purchase the curtains and some other items and the price we pay takes the price over the threshold, do we have to pay stamp duty? I am assuming not as I have heard of this being used as a way of avoiding stamp duty but I just want to be sure before I get into any negotiations.

  • Property costs and stamp duty advice in London [buying a property] [stamp duty]

Q:I'm just after a bit of advice about the costs involved in buying a property for the first time. Just to be clear however, I have absolutely NO intention of buying now, I will probably be buying in around 1-2 years as I need to save more money for a deposit. My question is basically, how much cash would I need to buy a property of around £300,000? The properites that me and my OH like are currently priced around the £270,000-£320,000 mark (but hopefully they will fall a bit

  • Advice on home buying [buying a property]

Q:I would welcome some advice with regards to buying a property.

Having considered for some time (including visiting and researching areas), we have decided to sell our current house and move to a new, larger house. We have been looking at properties for some while, and last week put our property on the market.

We have just found the house that is perfect for us for the next 20 years, and have had an offer accepted (a lot quicker than I expected). However, as our house h

  • Joint mortgage with daughter ? [daughter lives] [buying a property]

    Q:Hi all,
I have been trawling the posts but cant seem to find any info on my queery. My 23 yr old daughter lives at home with us and is considering buying a property. There is no way she could get a mortgage on her own and I was wondering about helping her by getting a joint mortgage with her to get her started. We paid our mortgage off a couple of years ago so are able to help. The property we have been looking at is in need of modernising and when I spoke to the EA today she said it is o

  • Multiple EA when buying a home [selling a property] [buying a property]

    Q:Hello There,

Have just put my house on the market, this is the first time at buying and selling a property.

I have noticed that when looking for houses to buy they are sometimes on with my EA plus another.
I'm guessing that it would be better to always go to view the property with the EA that is not selling mine, due to having a better chance of an offer being accepted.
Could someone please let me know if my thinking is correct
    many thanks
