Q:I am about to exchange on a new build with no completion date as yet.
The solicitor will hopefully do the exchange this week as we have already paid our deposit to him.
When should my insurance start, exchange or completion date?
Im sure i need the insurance before i can complete, as requested by lender.
Any one know what i need to do and how i can find the best deals out there.
Q:Hi everyone,
We have now exchanged contracts (yay!) but don't complete for 2 weeks (as one part of the chain is going on holiday – great timing!).
We have our completion date but can that change now? I need to book for us to hire a small van, etc and don't want to do it yet if that date is subject to change.
Also OH has booked that day as a removals day from work, so I hope it doesn't change now as he doesn't want to mess his work around.
Q:Right, we are not able to exchange contracts until we have arranged buildings insurance, but I cant arrange insurance online as I don't know what date we are due to complete on. What can I do?
Q:We're at the point where we've returned our contracts and are ready to agree and exchange date/completion date with our sellers.
We actually met our sellers last week and they seemed keen to move and although I didn't ask outright, they gave the impression that they were waiting on us (at that point we were still checking over the contract).
Now we've found out that apparently the sellers have not returned their contract to their solicitor.

Q:i am due to complete on 31st march, just wondering is there things i should inspect before complettion? e.g i should ask the vendor to show me where the boiler controls do/heating etc etc

Q:we are under offer and have been since mid jan and it seems to be taking ages. we pulled out of a house mid last week and secured another at the weekend. can i request our buyer to exchange on our property so that she is committed to buying so we can relax a bit. the property we are buying will be vacant with no onward chain so i was wondering whether we can set an overall completion date of a month that will give us time to exchange as well as complete.
is this normal? i dont want
Q:Hi,
Awaiting confirmation from solicitor that paperwork is all ok and we are ready to exchange after that we transfer deposit via chaps.
There are a total of 5 vendors in the chain including me and i'm at the start of the chain. Apparently everybody else is ready to exchange and I was the last according to my agent.
I have intially requested a completion date of 14th March I know solicitors need to go up the chain and agree the date with the vendors.
Q:Somebody has offered on my property and i'm considering but I don't want to be homeless as the chain above me is still be progress.
Anyway my purchaser wants security and wants to exchange as soon as possible but says we can have a flexible completion date i.e 3 months or before or even 6 months or ealier.
When do you agree completion date is it just before exchange and can the purchaser enforce it to be ealier.
Q:buying for the first time- at what point do I choose a completion date, as Ihaven't been asked this by the solicitor yet. they said that the contracts are being drafted now.
also, do i need to let the seller (whos a good friend) know the completion date or do our solicitors have to communicate with each other?
Q:Hi all, just after some advice. My completion date is next Friday and I know that I need insurance, and to set up a phone line. Apart from that my mind seems to have gone blank… I think it's because I'm so excited! Any tips?
Thank you kindly :j
