Q:What are the advantages and disadvantages of shared ownership? I am a first time buyer looking to buy a house in the Nottingham area.
Q:Hi All,
We had an offer on a property accepted, we have had the mortgage offer through and they have completed their survey.
The survey highlighted that the Gas boiler looked dated and currently the Bathroom had some suspect wiring. They are currently doing up the bathroom and is one of the conditions that this done before sale.
In the survey we were advised to get the Gas and Electrics checked out and to get a certificate for them.
I phoned the E
Q:There is a very long story behind this, involving damp and woodworm reports, renegotiation of price, undervaluation and crap estate agents, but we were finally in a position to exchange contracts.
It's a chain of 4 – First time buyer, us, new house, vendors purchase.
There were some last minute hitches with our FTB deposit but money was in the account ready to go yesterday. Everyone wants to complete next Friday (26th)
Yesterday we find out that the top of the ch
Q:Hi there,
New on these here boards, and plan on sticking around – you guys seem as sound as the pound(s) you save! lol.
Now, I was wondering if anyone could give some advice/their opinion on my situation.
I am a single, 22 year old chappy with a fulltime job earning £17500 a year (or £1100 a month net) looking at the whole house buying thing. With my low wage, I cant really afford to buy out-right so have been looking at Shared Ownership. I know reading these forums
Q:Hi
For many reasons my girlfriend and I are thinking of selling our flat, renting for a while and then buying again.
Are there any rules about first-time buyer status in doing this as part of our thinking is that we won't be in a chain and that we will be more attractive to sellers but there are many other reasons. However, would we qualify as first-time buyers as far as mortgage offers might be concerned?
Thanks
Damian
Q:House is up for sale for £169,500. Had 4 agents round to value it. I took a median figure.
First time buyer puts in an offer today of £158,000. I said no. Comes back and says £165,000. The agent seems to think I should take it (after all he wants his money). I'm not so sure.
House is in good condition and having compared all the competition (there are a lot of this style in the area) I think it's a reasonable and fair price – perhaps even a little low.
Q:Hi,
We are currently in a chain of 4.
1. first time buyer
2. our buyer
3. us
4. our vendor
have heard this week that the first time buyer is refusing to start legal work until he has his mortgage offer through. (it has been 6 weeks since his offer was accepted by our buyer)
I can see that he may be over cautious and not want to spend money unless all is fine with his offer, but shouldnt he have had AIP in place before he started t
Q:hi i am looking for your advice i am a first time buyer looking to take out 125% mortgage although not the full 125% if you get me. looking to buy a property at offers over £75 and as it is the scottish market the general rule is you offer 10-15% over the asking price. so we would be looking at offering max around £85k – £88 . with £14K of Debt we are looking to consolidate this with the mortgage so taking out a mortgage of around £99K. but i am worried about the possible price crash and intre
Q:My partner and I earn £44,700 between us although he has finance on a car for the next 3 years costing £150 month and owes his Dad £8,000
I need to move out soon due to pressure from parents and looking at the cost of renting, I just can not afford it. Also, if we were both to rent, we are looking at around £700+ per month for a place in Zone 4.
We would like to get on the hosuing ladder but what with terrible interest rates and ridiculous house prices, we feel we are b
Q:I am a first time buyer. I am buying a one bed flat for 134000. I have 70000 to put down up front. The rest I have a mortgage agreed for.
The flat I'm buying is an old couple's who are moving out into an empty property (It might be a care home). So there isn't a chain.
It's been 13 weeks since my offer was accepted and still I have no exchange date. The hold up seems to be regarding a deed of variation which is required because the wording in the lease is incorr
