Halfway through a purchase [first time buyer] [seven sisters]

Q:I'm a first time buyer, but have a substantial deposit, and have been planning to buy a large place, letting out a couple of rooms. I put an offer in on a place about a month ago, got 5% off the price they were asking for in December, and have got the mortgage straightened out. The house is in Seven Sisters in London, and has very good transport links for the center of london.

OPbviously now the end times seem to be approaching, and I'm worried that my bi deposit will be eat

  • Buying abroad – Advice please ! [first time buyer] [interest only mortgage]

Q:I'm buying a property abroad and will need £100K a few months before I receive an inheritance of £150K.
I will obviously only need the loan for a couple of months before I pay it back in full – just dont know the best way of going about it??
I suppose I could either re-mortgage my current property for an extra £100K and pay interest only for a couple of months, or my girlfriend could take out a 100% interest only mortgage as a first time buyer??

    Any advice would be mu

  • How long does it take for a first time buyer ? [first time buyer] [first time buyers]

    Q:Hi all,

How long does it normally take for a first time buyer to have an offer accepted on a home and actually move in?
Me and my partner are currently in a chain, where we accepted an offer 2 months ago to an elderly couple whom accepted an offer for their home, from a first time buyer, 2 weeks prior to that. The elderly couple do not need a mortgage and a paying by cash from the sale of their home. The first time buyers will need a mortgage and searches/surveys (I assume),

  • First time buyer – Need advice ! [first time buyer] [buyer advice]

    Q:Hi All

I am in need of some advice as I am new to the housing market! My partner and I found a flat that we love and put an offer in, the survey has been done which highlighted a few problems – property needs a new roof, there is a bit of damp etc.

Our main concern is obviously the new roof! The people that live above the flat we are buying have just bought that flat and the freehold. We can't afford to go any further with the sale unless the vendor agrees to accep

  • [first time buyer] [exchange contracts]

Q:I was just wondering if anybody has any advice. I am a first time buyer looking for a place with my partner. We have found the perfect home and made an offer which hasn't been accepted or rejected. It turns out there is another offer on the table from someone else. We really like the house, but if our offer is accepted I'll feel very worried that the other people will gazzump us before we exchange contracts! Any tips or ideas? Thanks

  • ELAN – Doing my own ! Takeover advice necessary [first time buyer] [forum threads]

Q:I have been interested to read the forum threads regarding DIY conveyancing. Most advice seems reasonable, however there are some circumstances where the process is so simple it would be hard not to save the solicitors fees. Last year I did my own conveyancing when selling a freehold house with no mortgage to a first time buyer (no chain) It cost me £12 (Land Registry fee) plus paper, copying, envelopes and stamps! I researched the process from library books, downloaded all the forms I needed

  • Please help fill ~ [bank holiday weekend] [first time buyer]

    Q:Hi!

I am a first time buyer and am due to get my keys for my house next Friday, 28th March. My mortgage papers arrived to my mortgage advisor last Thursday and were with me and my solicitor on Friday. They state that my deposit has to be paid 4 days before they will release the funds and with this being a bank holiday weekend I'm starting to get concerned that this would have to be today and I have heard nothing from my solicitor. I received a letter from him on Saturday saying
