Are these realistic deadlines? [first time buyers] [realistic deadlines]

Q:Hi,

our offer got accepted on 07/02/08, we're first time buyers so can exchange as soon as is possible.

The vendors want to exchange on 29/02/08 and complete on 31/03/08. Are these realisitc deadlines?

The mortgage was agreed in principle on 08/02/08, the application form received by them (First Direct) on 13/02/08.

My conveyancer was instructed on 08/02/08 and searches have been applied for.

We've done all we can to expedit

  • Help with making an offer [first time buyers] [propertysnake]

Q:My partner and I are first time buyers and have a max budget of £160K. We have seen a house we like which is on sale for £170K.

Propertysnake shows that the house has been on the market since July 2007, originally at £180K.

Today we have made an offer of £153K, which has been rejected. The EA said that they have already received an offer in excess of this, but did not say what. She said that she thinks she could twist their arm into accepting £165K, which is unfort

  • Schedule a home purchase [first time buyers] [mortgage advisor]

    Q:Hiya,

This might be a stupid question but we are first time buyers and need to move in August so just over 5 months away.

We have been told by mortgage advisor to go ahead and put in an offer if we see one we like.

My question is, is it too early to start looking? I have no idea how long it takes to buy a house! I am veiwing some properties next week, but I am worried if we see one we like it will be too soon for us to put in an offer.

    Any sugg

  • We buy your house for cash – are these companies reliable? [first time buyers] [asking price]

    Q:Hi MSEs

We have a highly saleable house, in a 'good area' but when we put it on the market at the end of last summer we had no offers. It looks like the 'after' from a sell your house reality show. We pitched the asking price below what the agents suggested, but it's a biggish house, so will be at the end of a chain. Without first time buyers at the bottom, nothing moves. We need to move this year.

Has anyone used one of these "we'll buy

  • First time buyers – Need some advice! [first time buyers] [mortgage calculators]

    Q:Hi all,

I have been reading up through the stickies here and various other online resources regarding info for first time buyers, but I have some specific questions that hopefully someone can answer.

My girlfriend and I are probably going to be looking at getting our first place in the next few months, we've already done a few of the online mortgage calculators (barclays, natwest & nationwide – we bank with all those between us..) and it looks like we may be abo

  • Tentants in common question [first time buyers] [common shares]

Q:we are first time buyers having trouble with the tenants in common. there seems to be little advice on how the shares are calculated or found. we are getting a interest only mortgage. one person is putting in £16500 into the deposit. The other person is putting £4000 into the deposit. We are sharing the monthly interest payments equally.
So what should the tenants in common shares be?
    Thanks for any replies.

  • How to recover the deposit broker [first time buyers] [high rise building]

    Q:Hi,

This is my first post and need to help from all of you.

3 months ago, My wife and I (first time buyers) and found a nice property which is ex-local flat in high rise building. We was so excited to make an offer and the agent said in order to secure our offer, we had to put down deposit (£1000). We thought it is normal and we paid £1000. When we paid the agent, he said it is just his company policy and both buyer and seller have to pay deposit for a good gesture. If

  • First Time Buyer Help Required! [first time buyer] [first time buyers]

Q:I am currently in the process of buying my first property. I am doing so in the recently launched First Time Buyers Iniative Scheme which is similar to shared ownership, apart from having to pay rent on the remainder for the first 3 years.

My problem is this: I recieved a completion fee today broken down into parts from my Solicitor. To my horror I saw a Stamp Duty Charge of £1300.

Now the property is worth £133,000 but as I have only purchased 50%, I only have to pay £

  • Do I need a decision in principal? [first time buyers] [credit check]

Q:I am looking to buy a house with my partner (first time buyers). I spoke to a broker and provided income etc. I was informed that our income was sufficient to borrow the amount required. I also have no credit problems.

I was advised that a decision in principal was unnecessary as this would involve a credit check and when we needed the mortgage proper, it may no longer be the best one and it would be likely to need to start again with another lender anyway.

    This kinda mak
