Q:I rented my flat 3 years ago via agency. Now it's time to renew the contract. Landlord asked me to ignore letters from agency and said he will write the new contract himself.
In case of renewing the contract with agency I would have to pay 80 gbp fee as in their terms and condition. The landlord sent me the new contract which consists of few sentences that we renew the contract for certain periond on the same conditions and asks me to pay him 50 gbp renewal fee as agreed.

Our 2nd 6 month tenancy has just ended at the beginning of this month, and due to the landlord putting the flat up for sale (6 weeks ago) we told the agents we didnt want to extend and that we would be looking to move elsewhere. They were fine with this.

Q:I'm currently renting and had a 6 month contract which expired earlier this month. I'm in the process of buying a house and need to give notice to my landlord.
In my contract it says he must give me one month notice and I must give him two months. I beleive the law dictates I only have to now give him one months notice? Is this correct. Also, is it one month from the billing date?

In a couple of months I'm looking to rent a flat for 6 months, if I were to offer a landlord to pay the entire 6 months rent upfront, would they give a reduced rate?

Basically my landlord is usless. I live in the house that jack built. I've reported him to the council, they came and inspected gave him 28 days to do repairs. That was before xmas last year and he so far has done 1. I'm fed up of chasing him and the council. Therefore I am looking at other properties.

We handed in proof that we have paid our final bills in the flat we rented for a year. I thought this would be all that is required to then get our ￡850 deposit back, as the landlord suggested.
They have now said we will ge the deposit back in 6-8 weeks. I take this to mean that they willl forget and we will have to chase them again in 6-8 weeks…
