Q:First off, this isn't about me, but a friend of mine ….
Recently my Landlord told me that he had not received three months' rent from our letting agency, even though we have been paying our rent to them (and I have the proof from the bank of this).
It turns out when I looked into it that, unbeknown to the people they were continuing to take money off, the company was wound up in the beginning of June this year. They did, however, still collect another month
Q:Hi all,
My girlfriend is letting her flat since she has lived with me and has done for the past few years.
Her current tenant is moving out and has instructed Leaders (a letting agency here in the South) to find her a tenant again.
It's a one bedroom flat which is part furnished and Leaders want £15/room(+vat)… that?s £70+vat before the tenant moves in and then another £70+vat to check him out.
So, should she do it herself to save some cash… along with
Q:Does anyone have any experience of Homelet's referencing checks.
Myself and my girlfriend has applied for a rented property, we filled out the homelet forms and gave them back to the letting agency on Monday.
Homelet have since been in touch with my employer yesterday and have sent some forms through the post for them to complete (as we didn't have a fax). However Homelet have not yet been in touch with my partners employers.
I'm also concerned as n
Q:Hi all,
I was just wondering if someone could answer a quick question for me.
A letting agency is trying to take some of my depoist for cleaning, and to add to this, they are also trying to charge £58.50 as an admin charge. In the contract, it says they can do this to arrange for contractors to "rectify any damages".
Does cleaning count as damage?
Q:Signed a contract for a student house through a letting agency in February on a house to be renovated and be able to move in from 1st July(when the contract starts)
To date the house still isn't ready they've been putting us off for the past 4 weeks claiming things aren't in from all tenants(guarantor forms etc.) I know for a fact they are and actually have proof . So they're not releasing any keys. They now claim the new completion date is the 28th July
Q:I have planned to let my house at the end of the summer and wondered how the letting market was in the east of England. It's a first time for me so I have nothing to go by.
I will be using a local letting agency as I will be out of the country.
Thanks for any input on this subject.
Q:We contacted the Landlady last month to confirm that we would be giving our 1 months notice and would be looking at moving out on the 13th June (3 days over our payment date so would pay extra 3 days) which they agreed on.
She has come over with another letting agency to have a look around the place and such and all seemed well (first time I met her in person) and went off and such.
But just got a letter from them wanting ANOTHER months rent as she says we owe them it for

Q:I'm looking for a bit of advice on what to do now…
I moved into a privately rented furnished property, through a letting agency, in December 2005 and paid a £700 deposit.
The tenancy was never renewed, but we continued to live there until April this year. We moved out because the landlord decided to sell the house and gave us our notice in February. The letting agency didn't tell us the house was up for sale initially, and we saw it advertised and had a phonecal
Q:I moved into a 1 bed studio flat 3 weeks ago and the last 2 weekends the fire alarm has been going off constantly. There is a number to reset the alarm but there is a constant high pitched buzzing noise going off until someone comes during the week to reset the whole system fully.
I have emailed the letting agency twice but the agency have not replied.
I was just wondering if anyone knew if it would be possible to break the contract with the agency (ive a contract
