Q:I'm sat here feeling very relieved to be completely honest!

I'm sure you won't remember but we were due to complete on the purchase of a house last month but a week before exchange our mortgage company changed our offer from 80% LTV to 60%. We declined, completed on our sale and are now renting with our deposit stashed away.

This is the house we were going to buy for £149K: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-21708368.rsp?pa_n=2&tr_t=buy

  • Home buyer rating or just research? [home buyer survey] [mortgage company]

Q:What's the opinion on to go for it or not?
I'm just buying a 1930's terraced house, it does not appear that anything has been done to the house in the last 78 years (apart from a team of people smoking 40 a day in it)
I'm quite a keen DIYer myself and have looked over it myself and can see some minor issues that will need attention for which I've dropped the price by 15K already, Obviously the mortgage company are sending a surveyor round for the basic valuation s

  • Renting our apartment ? Advice please . [epsom surrey] [mortgage company]

    Q:Hi all,

We bought our flat a year ago near Epsom, Surrey.

My relationship with my OH of 9 years had deteriorated and there is talk of having a 'break'. Owning the flat makes it complicated and its not a great time to sell. I dont really want to sell it anyway to be honest.

I have the idea of renting it out for a while. What implications would this have with the mortgage company? Do we tell them…how does it work?

    We paid a 5% deposit a

  • Need tree problem ASAP ! [tree surgeon] [mortgage company]

Q:Ok….signed contracts yesterday, supposed to complete tomorrow.

The mortgage company have said they won't release the money until a tree at the house has been looked at and approved.

The estate agents have said we have to pay £200 for the tree surgeon to look at it and report back with a two day turn around…..errmm…..why was this not brought up during the survey and why has the owner not sorted it out?

Surely it isn't up to us to pay for this t

  • Management company rip off – what now ? [mortgage company] [leasehold]

Q:We've just remortgaged and it all went well – phew! But we've just had a letter from the solicitor to say that they've had a letter from our management company (we're leasehold in a two flat house), to say that they want £35+VAT from us for 'receipt the Notice of Mortgage', basically for changing the details on a computer to show that we're now with a different mortgage company.
That's on top of the £350 a year service charge (for preparing the annual accou

  • Can you tell me that we are doing the right thing ? ! [mortgage company] [growing family]

    Q:Hi,

We managed to sell our house and got a good price for it. The are several reasons for selling: it's too small for our growing family, in an expensive area, we are in debt and have lots of equity.

So… we get a good offer, accept, have our offer accepted and then just yesterday we find out that our mortgage company won't do an 80% mortgage, but are offering only 60%. It's a very long story, but basically has taken about 10 weeks to get this reply from

  • Re : Can the lawyer cost me ? [valuation report] [mortgage company]

Q:We have recently pulled out of a purchase for several reasons. We were doubtful from the very start and so held back on signing the contract sent by the solicitors who our estate agents work with. The mortgage company did send them the valuation report and they told us they had received this. However, we had already informed them that we hadn't yet returned their contract because we wanted to ascertain a few things about the property before going ahead and incurring costs unnecessarily.
