Q:We sold and brought a new house over a year ago, the solicitors have now come back to us and said that we owe them money as the two statements do not balance.
Should i have to pay them as they handled the selling and buying of the two properties therefore it is their error

Q:We are selling my parent's home which is empty since they have gone into care.
We are due to exchange contracts tomorrow.
The buyer has asked if they can move some of their stuff into the property ahead of completion, I'm dubious about this and will ask my solicitor but has anyone done this and are there any pitfalls?

  • How does it work when you move to a portable mortgage ? [mortage] [solicitor]

Q:sorry if i sound thick but i am trying to get my head round how it actually works.

so, normally, if you were selling your house, you would pay the estate agent, the solicitor, removal van etc etc.

if you have a mortgage that you can take with you to the next property, how does it work in terms of paying your mortgage for the house you have just sold?

My situation is that i have a 126,000 mortgage, i might be wanting to move , if i have enough saved to pay fo

  • How do I know when my house was built ? [contents insurance] [solicitor]

Q:I've just bought a flat and have a quick q, for my contents insurance I need to know at least in what decade my house was built. I have found out the date it was converted to 2 flats (ground floor and first floor) but can't find in any of the docs my solicitor sent to me the actual date the house was built. Can I find this out easily off the council?

Sorry if I seem thick, I might have missed it and it's really obvious. Is this something I should have been told/given do

  • I unreasonable ? [letting agents] [solicitor]

Q:My ex and I sold our house in March and had requested to our solicitor that if possible we we would like to complete at the beginning of May – due to paperwork (apparently) this did not happen so I had to pull out of the contract with the letting agents of the flat I was going to rent.

We have now requested that we complete at the end of this month – I couldnt see why it would be a problem as the solicitor has our signed contract but I have just had an email from solicitors stating

  • Purchased in mid 2006 and Shared Ownership . [lease agreement] [solicitor]

Q:we have never signed the lease agreement. In fact I am not even aware of a lease agreement (obviously for the share we don't own and pay rental on) being issued in our name.

Now, I assume this is issued by the HA, and I am quite happy to phone them up and point this out so that we can get it issued and signed etc etc, BUT surely my solicitor should have realised this, and should I rather 'innocently' ask them if they have a copy.

    Whatever happens I really do

  • Buying a home without an agent [buying a house] [solicitor]

Q:I've found a property that I would like to purchase, but I know the current owners.

If we don't use an agent is there anything that we would need to be aware of?

Also can we both use the same solicitor? Them to sell and me to buy to speed up the process?

    thanks

  • House sold but want pull – fees ? [solicitor]

Q:Our house sold stc shortly before EA contact expired. The owner of the house we were due to move to decided to pull out of the agreement (private sale/purchase), and we have sold our house with no onward chain with a view to renting for a while before buying again. We are now considering pulling out of our sale, (yes I know it's a pretty low thing to do but we have valid reasons), so was wondering if we pull out what fees (if any) we can expect to pay to the estate agent and solicitor?

  • Property closed advice [last friday] [solicitor]

Q:I sold my house last Friday and when I went to visit the estate agents the previous day who had sold the property I found out that they had since closed down a week or so earlier. This left me in a bit of a worry and after a few phone calls I took the day off work and arranged to meet the buyer in person to hand the keys over. My solicitor then informed me she could not get in touch with anyone from the estate agents and agreed to send me the fee which had been arrranged (£1400). I do not know
