Q:Hi
Can anyone tell me if exchange of contracts just goes ahead or will I be informed of a date when this will happen? I'm the seller (no chain) and I have signed and returned a contract which my solicitor sent me about two weeks ago. Last I heard, they were just waiting on a couple of searches to come back. Thanks in advance, I'm pretty clueless on these things!
Q:Had anyone used Thompsons Partnership (Plymouth) for their Conveyancing? After getting some quotes at these are at least £250 cheaper than a local solicitor I have been recommended to (we get an Amicus discount), but have read some mixed reviews on this and other sites.
Please help!
Q:We're due to be completing on the house we are buying today. 3pm yesterday the EA rang and asked if Id heard what was happening regarding contracts being exchaged. I explained that we had signed the week before and paid deposit and solicitors fees, we'd been told it was all done ready to complete. Aparently the vendors solicitor had phoned them saying they never got the contracts!
So after a few phone calls it turns out the vendors solicitor is all electronic systems and it has be
Q:The sale of my flat was completed on Wednesday 12th March.
The buyer moved in on Thursday 13th March.
It is an ex council flat and because I wanted a quick sale I let it go really cheaply as the buyer said he wasn't bothered about having any searches done. He is very happy
My Solicitor has paid off my mortgage (she did this on Wednesday) but she keeps saying she has to wait for something from the Council until I can have any money that is left over from the sale after payin
Q:Hi all,
My friend has bought a flat through an estate agent. However, her previous owner has kept hold of one set of keys (of which one key is very important as its the key that opens the automatic door to the underground car park to her flat).
She has been chasing the keys for the last month without success.
If she needs to drag people to court, does she go after her solicitor or the estate agents? Who has the responsibility of ensuring that all keys were
Q:Who should pay for the extension of the lease? We are buying a flat one of four in a building all having the same lengthe of lease (76 years). Our solicitor has advised that if the flat was leasehold he would be looking for the vendor to extend the lease at their cost. However, the vendor has lived in the property for less than two years so cannot do that independently, but will need to get agreement from the other three leaseholders in the building. The four flats also have share of the free

Q:Looking for some advice here
I had accepted a written offer on my house from a first time buying couple through their solicitor exchanging in 6 weeks, last week got a phone call from buyer saying they could not get all the money that their mortgage had not agreed before they put in the offer, decided to accept less which they could afford to keep the deal on, their solicitor said NO to this and that they would need 6 more weeks to complete for even less money, we were supposed to complete
Q:I'm confused as last year I almost bought a flat that owned the freehold (it was a converted house with one other flat downstairs that was leasehold) and my solicitor showed me that there was still a lease on both flats, though extending it seeing as I would also be the freehodler wouldn't be a problem.
Now I'm going to look at a flat that has a share of the freehold with the flat downstairs (same deal, converted house) and the EA have categorically stated that as it is
