    Q:Hi All
We are just starting the process of landmine discovery, known as house selling and HIPS
We organised an estate agent, pictures taken and fee agreed at 1.4% (lowest in town, couldn't get Marcus's figure of 1%)
The agent suggested that we use a company called XXX to do the organising of the HIP and also the agent had a list of approved solicitors from which we could choose. We did both.
The solicitor has today sent their package of requirements, which includes

  • Auction House . Quick Q ? [repo] [solicitors]

Q:Can anyone purchase a house at auction? Is it cash buyers only? Do solicitors have to act on the behalf of the purchaser? Could a FTB?

  • Outrageous fees Notaries [divorce courts] [solicitors]

    Q:Hi All.

I'm joint owner on a property along with my ex-wife, who is still living in it. It was ordered by the divorce courts to be sold in April last year. She instructed estate agents and got her own solicitors to handle the sale. I didn't have any say in it, and indeed didn't even find out who was dealing with it until after she'd accepted an offer, despite trying to talk to her about it for some time. Only by appointing my own solicitors have I been able to ge

Does anyone have any advise on how i can negotiate this cost without the use of solicitors?
    Many Thanks

  • HIP / Ask searches [missing something] [solicitors]

Q:When we went to purchase a property (which has fallen through and trying to sort out solicitors costs etc), I was told that I'd have to have the searches re-done because they were older than 3 months.

What's the point of HIP's if the purchaser just has to pay again? Or am I missing something here?

  • Revolution ! Can we advertise our private homes as well? [housing market] [solicitors]

Q:Hi. My house has been on the market (Scotland) for a few weeks with not one viewer yet. Personally, not a problem as I am not in a hurry to sell. But, comparing it to the last time I sold a property when I had viewings every day, this seems odd. I know the housing market is in decline and am ready for this. But was wondering….is there anything to stop me taking matters into my own hands…advertising the house myself ( in addition to solicitors) through newspapers etc? I'd like people
