What to do with £ 50,000? [property ladder] [buying a house in spain]

Q:My husband has inherit £50,000 which is great but now we don't really now the best way to invest it.
We have been thinking in but I don't know if £50,000 will be enough to buy something that doesn't need everything done to it. Has anybody have done something similar?
Another option going up in the but I'm a bit scared since at the moment house climate is not very stable.
We know we need to talk to a financial advisor but I don't want our money just to sit in a savings account. This is a unique opportunity and we want to make the best of it.
Thanks for any of your comments

A:Why not use the 50k to pay a chunk of your mortgage off?

You could always get it back if you decide to do something else with it, and in the mean time it will save you a fortune on interest.

Spains property market is very unstable at the moment. I wouldn't buy there unless you know what and where. Don't listen to salesmen.
An old saying " when in doubt do nowt" better to lie in a high interest acount earning money. No rush to throw it at something is there? ;-)
